I would ask the builder what ICL the cam was installed at. Its possible he did not degree it and it is off causing too much EVC angle. I've seen cams being off as much as 6 degrees when being install "straight up".

Going to go thru the motor this winter with my builder and will inspect the intake, and anything else that could be a culprit to water intrusion as mentioned above. Already have it pulled it out of the boat to look over everything before something catastrophic happens to this fresh build.
