Billet or OEM engine mounts
I am building a 496 with some extra hp.
I am not sure which engine mounts to use billet or the rubber OEM.
The 496 is a thin walled block And I have heard the block can break at the mount location,I was thinking maybe the rubber mount could offer a little protection, but I have also heard of the rubber mount breaking .
I am going to run dry tail pipes so maybe the billet mounts would better stopping the pipes hitting the transom,I think the billet mounts would also harder to break.

if you boat in rough water the solid mounts would be the way to go. stock rubber mounts were never meant to handle high hp and rough water. rubber mounts and lag bolts have no business in a offshore boat. had a baja with them and on a trip in rough water the mount broke and bashed the top in the stringer down a 1 1/2.
