Roller cams don't need a break in like flat tappets. Just start it for a couple minutes at idle and low rpms.

I ended up going with the 134561 flat tappet cam (close to the 731 roller specs) for this build to keep it cheap as it is a 2 bolt main and cast crank. I have a genVI on the way that I will but a little more$$ into for a more durable build that has a better rotating assembly. I'm curious to see how long this engine lasts being a cast rotating assembly. Also thinking of making a test stand with a radiator and electric fans, different water neck and what not to break it in out of the boat. I've never ran a engine on muffs above idle for an extended period of time due to cooling reasons.
