Merc 525 EFI Whipple build
Upgrading my 525 EFI with a Whipple KIT i noticed a spot of rust on the camshaft. So I want to change it.... problem is buying a new one, it’s absolutly a jungle. Anyone have any recomondations as to wich cam to buy, and what else that would be wise to change now that I am at it? |
Where is the rust on the cam , how many hours on the engine ?

Engine has zero hours. Rust is on face that hits one lifter. Engine is ‘03 so pulling heads to upgrade to Cometic gaskets. |
Any competent machine shop can polish surface rust off of that camshaft.
I'll pay for shipping if you dont want to use it tho :) ** EDIT ** Just saw that your in Norway. Shipping could get expensive |

Well......then you don't need lifters or springs , but I would test the springs before you put it together
I just built a pair of these, going in the boat in a couple weeks |
The valvetrain has been loosened when stored. Pulling heads tomorrow, so will Get a clear vision on the cam. Will probobly run into other minor or major things that requiers your experience, so thankfullfor all inputs and help👍 |
