Bleed ITS steering system

Installed rebuilt engine a few months ago. I am having trouble getting the air out of the system. It is the mercury ITS system. The only thing we have not tried is to bleed the system with the engine running, I cannot find anything about how to do this. Should I try to bleed it with the engine running, if so how should I go about doing that?

Fill power steering pump start motor turn one direction shut off engine fill pump again do the other direction repeat till leavel is Steady let it sit for a bit small bubbles will get bigger. If you have someone to add fluid might help try not to run it out when you start proses.

Just some clarification I should have put in the initial post. We did the initial bleeding without running the engine when it was connected. Once we ran the motor it seems to still have air trapped that will not work its way out. The system also has Automatic transmission fluid in it should I change it out for power steering fluid? That is what was in it before the motor swap. What is happening now is the fluid is foaming due to the excess air and overflowing the reservoir when running the engine.
