Ignorance is bliss. Just run it So many otherwise useable boats lives end when an overly ambitious transom project is aborted. |

Good check, pull the drive and see if the motor is still in alignment. Wet transom means rotted stringers a lot of times and if you are out of alignment it will trash the coupler. |

There is a wet transom and a rotted transom. As stated, many people have run a lot of boats with no idea that the boat was in dire need of rebuilding.
Is the transom flexing on the drives? If it is to any extent, you are on the sidelines until it can be rebuilt - in current condition, you are the only one that knows the extent of what you seen and carry that risk.. When you attached the steering, did the transom mounts compress the hull as the bolts were tightened? |

It’s not going to turn into confetti over the course of the summer. Heck... would probably take a few summers! You put put a lot of weight on it, and you did the hammer test that showed delamination hasn’t happened. If it were me, I’d run it without any worries. . |
hows your engine alignment cause once that goes look for other issues than a wet / soft transom
A wet transom will softens and rot over time. do you have any water leaking into the bilge - as that will cause other damage |

I put my full weight (260 lbs) on the drives and did not see the transom flex. The steering is not finished because I needed to bring the boat in for scheduled gimbal ring replacement.
putting your weight on drives is not going to tell you nothing unless you transom is really really rotted. You have to check it the other way around like I mention for a laymens quick check, Again its just a quick test and can be effective to see if the transom is soft or rotted as well. |
