I recently did a complete (1000 man hr) resto on a 1988 Apache Scout. This is the 22' with the euro style transom. Bobby S. told me he only built a dozen of them and says he loved the way the boat handled with the 25" transom as opposed to the bracketed 21'. Of course back we had 200's and 225's and the boat ran 60 to 65 mph.
I built a 300hp E-TEC with .58 ratio L2 gc. I'm turning a 26" Raker at 5850rpm @77mph (9% slip). I installed SeaStar Pro 2.0 helm and Pro cylinder(no air in system and end play is within specs)
I'm looking to hear from anyone with experience setting up and running a similar boat. I have experimented with mounting height and props and feel that I have the best combo but the chine walk above 70 is pretty severe and I can't always drive out of it.
The boat bottom is very nice, strakes are straight and sharp, running surface is flat with no rocker or hook and even from side to side. 6" tapered mini-pad is symmetrical.
Thanks guys
Dave

- Should I install solid mounts? both upper and lowers?
- trim tabs? (I don't really want em)
- any experience shared would be much appreciated.
Thanks guys

Went back through my steering system and found that the steering cylinder stop had backed off from the tilt tube allowing just a little end play. Tightened it back up and the chine walk is back to being manageable. In the high 70's and lookin for 80 now :-)

Good find! Good luck on your quest. Someday I will go bigger. Keep saying when the 200 goes but it just keeps rolling along...
