See the circular marks on the tang. those are caused by it just touching the top of the oil pump drive. They are not properly engaged.

Is that rolled edge or oil? Really hard to tell from that picture.

That’s just oil on the tang. In person it doesn’t look beat up at all. I’ll try another distributor and see what happens then pull it apart and check the crank hoping I can get away with just throwing a set of bearings I’m it. Thank you everyone for all your input

you running more than one distr. gaskets?the distr. can have the collar machined down .08-.100" or completely off and then use a slip collar.distr. is your problem.

thats true, was just thinking about fixing the distributor. id fix that and fire it up, if its screwed he'll know it really soon.

only one gasket. I’ve been swamped lately and haven’t touched it but I think my buddy has a distributor with a slip collar I can borrow to try.
