Default Second guessing my cam...opinions?

After almost 2 years of hell with my motor builder I am now second guessing everything associated with what they recommended...As my other thread states I'm thinking I'm in the market for lifters and it makes me question the custom grind cam they told me I needed when I told them I wanted the 525 efi cam....

motor is a .030 over 454
dart iron eagle heads
forged internals...Je pistons, eagle rods
8.2:1 compression
8-71 blower 7ish pounds intercooled

cam is....
278/288
228/238 at .050
.612/.618 lift
114 lobe separation

My question is...what kind of power if any am I leaving on the table? While it's not hugely smaller that the 525 cam it for sure is smaller...if I have to get lifters is it worth the few hundred bucks while I'm there to swap out for the 525 cam or will it not make a difference?

Thanks everyone

I used the 525 efi cam in my 454 blower build. With a tired 250 it made 580 at 5800. After the blower was rebuilt we were well into the 600’s based on the boat’s performance change. Again, that was with a little 250. In my opinion the cam was perfect for my build.

imo that cam is a decent choice as long as it is a steel billit core.

I'm not saying it is wrong for sure was just second guessing as I have pretty much lost faith in them....the number on the box is 11-000-8 which comes up as a comp blank custom cam...I'll have to bring it up again and see if there are any specs as to billet core or not.

F2...it still uses the cam button so don't think its a step nose

You can also have that cam reground if its on a billet core .
I like more duration on the exhaust side with a blower .
