No it was an external one, I do recall that.

It was some time ago so trying to recall more about it, think I made a thread here about it as well.

Water pressure sensor is in the power steering cooler at the rear of the motor.

That said; don't know your serial number and the sensor was installed starting with serial number 0W0600000 from what I'm finding

The earlier 496 had sensor in water pump housing, my 2002 does. You need to run the serial number to see where your is if you can't find it.

THE WATER PRESSURE sensor is installed just before the impeller for the early 496 MERCRUISER

Ask me how I would know

As for the Scan tool hand held I have 2 left right this minute - super busy so those 2 might be gone soon. First come first serve.

Adaptors per what you want would be the questions to ask. Like I said I have them right now but that might change.

Back to work I go

Do not pay attention to some whom never even put a wrench on a 496 period nor most other marine engines. Many never even seen a 496 in person up close

here 496s if unknown serial numbers MODEL YEAR 2006 in which comes out very late summer of 2005 had the water pressure sensor moved from the impeller housing area to the power steering cooler. And yes engine serial numbers first and foremost. You can look at the manu date on heat exchanger for the year. So now back to work I go

NOPE and you know that I know you work on your 496. I was sticking up with you cause you said were your water pressure sensor is LOCATED and correct about that location. So I hope you and I are good here because I was not directing anything towards you at all. I want to be clear on my end. THANKS.

My post was directed for whom never worked on a 496. I know you have worked on 496 s.
