I have not ever gone through one. Thank god for the Internet, have to watch some videos first lol. I’m pretty confident i can get it cleaned out myself, any certain things to look out for?

Carb cleaner in the eye. Stings like all get out. Done it many hundreds of times and I still do it on occasion.

Use red straw seated on or just in each passage. Having air compressor to blow out each passage after cleaning great to have too.

Post up questions when you have them. Many people here have cleaned Holley’s and obviously where newbies at some point.

I recently rebuilt a pair of Q-Jets, and one was having an idle issue and stalling after warm up. After several take off's and inspections and swapping parts, found that the needle in the problem carb was not sealing completely and motor would stall at idle and when putting into gear, because carb was flooding. Ran fine off idle and part throttle. Would stall out/flood at idle after about 15 seconds.

Who's kit had the N+S that sealed correctly ? Good info for quadrajet peeps, as not all kits are the same.

Hello,

I just wrote an article about troubleshooting marine engines that start but die when put into gear. It has 9 simple tests you can use to find the issue with your engine!
Please let me know if it helps you out!

All the best and happy boating!
