Can I convert 496 ho mercruiser to manual controls?
New here trying to fix up a boat with a blown motor. I currently have a 232 Baja boss with manual controls and I found a deal on a 496 on Facebook and wanted to see if it was feasible to convert it over? I have the mechanical knowledge just needing a little bit of input.

If your talking about digital controls and wanting to go to mechanical controls, then yes it can be done.
The digital control uses a different TB which does not have a IAC and TPS as the Mech on does. It hass a Throttle control motor which does both. Don't know which serial number motor your looking at so I just grabbed links off the first year model
Here is the Mechanical

thanks for that. Will I need to reprogram the ecm? Or will it be fine?
