Default Trim Position Sensor

Is the outdrive trim position sensor a simple potentiometer I could check at the indicator with an analog meter? The indicator operates erratically.

Yes, you can use an Ohm meter to check a sender if it only has two wires. You can use a voltmeter to read the output signal of a three wire sender by connecting between the blue and white wires with the ignition turned on.
