Internal flappers may be burnt out. Use a flashlight and look into pipes.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THAT MECHANIC!!!!!!!Originally Posted by BOSS342

A lot of “steam” coming from exhaust. While there is none coming from the motor that had no issue. I turned motor off and then restarted and it starts fine. Checked the oil and it seems to now have a bit of water in it. Will an oil change solve the problem? I had a machanic tell me to just run it and let the water evaporate out because it does not seem to be much at all due to the dipstick showing full but not over full. Any thoughts?
You probably have a bad exhaust manifold or exhaust riser leaking water into the engine or if lucky just a bad gasket between them.
It will destroy the engine if you don't get it fixed

You need to stop right now and find out where that water came from. Dont run the engine again until you find the problem, period. Every time you try to start it with water in a cylinder you are taking a big chance of bending a connecting rod. Originally Posted by BOSS342

You should probably start by pulling the exhaust manifolds and having them checked.

Also you say you started the engine and it ran...did you run it on the hose? If not, you probably burned up the water pump impeller. Anytime you run a boat on land, you have to run water through the sea pump or it will burn up.

How much water was in the pan? Water if not mixed with the oil (whitish) will be a puddle in the sump and will be first to be pumped through the engine.
