AFR heads on Gen VI block
Hey guys. My AFR heads have some corrosion damage around the weather ports that receive water from the block. Head gaskets seal up the passages well enough to let water flow through, but there is a weak point where the head has material over the large opening in the block. Sea water gets in between the head gasket and the head creating corrosion on the deck surface.
My question... has anyone thought of modifying the head’s deck surface to match the ports on a Gen-VI head(088 casting for example)? My heads are hard hard coated to resist corrosion, but this is a problem area. I’m going closed cooling so the issue will be cured, but I thought it would be an interesting question to ask.
