Merc is going to be pissed someone got a photo of their latest outboard prototype 10,000hp just waiting on a manufacture to reinforce the transom to hold it

You really can't hear them at all like the ones before, which is a good thing because they aren't producing a lot of heat. My 525 efi's whith the 3.8's dyno'd 830 hp @ 7.8 lbs of boost and can go to 11lbs if wanted. Only downfall for me is my factory cooling on the 525's is really good for up to 900 hp, so i'll never fully use all the boost I have. This is just a reference for the 3.8 whipple question.

Just because you can go 11psi doesn`t mean you should.
Detonation is more of a concern than cooling.
A the end of the day it`s all about cylinder pressure. more boost more pressure more detonation potential.
The 8.3 are also way too quiet.

I agree with that all day long. These 2 were built for the whipples from start to finish and tuned for this setup. The only way boost will be added is if they are tuned for the smaller pulley if it is ever added to compensate for the change. I'm pretty sure I've got more than enough power for my needs in this hull, especially since no one has ever had this much ower in a 33 like mine. ICDEDPPL, sorry to derail your post and looking forward to seeing your Cig when its all finished.

I`m thinking lower the compression to 7.5:1 and keep the boost and blower speed up at 10psi vs. 8.3:1 and 8psi .
Thoughts?

I would think it would keep the heat down and less chance of detonation. Just my thoughts.

7.9 is where I would set it with aluminum heads. Then you can run 10-12 psi.

I have Dart Iron eagles .

so by this graph:
8.0:1 and 12 psi is 14.5:1 NA motor.
10PSI is 13.4:1

7.5:1 and 10PSI = 12.8:1 NA
8.0:1 and 8psi is 12.4:1

Seems like a lot of boost on pump gas. Maybe not. I like the idea of staying close to 8.0:1 with 8 pds of boost and go have some trouble free boating. A little additional chamber work and or thicker head gasket get you there easily.

Obviously there’s more HP left on the table but also potential failure and think non of us like that especially the limited time many of us have on the water. I know you wanna hit that 100 mark. Heck I would to as you were so close. But…….. 😆
