The 3.8's are super efficient and some may be disapponted when they wind them up, because they are so quiet. You really can't hear them at all like the ones before, which is a good thing because they aren't producing a lot of heat. My 525 efi's whith the 3.8's dyno'd 830 hp @ 7.8 lbs of boost and can go to 11lbs if wanted. Only downfall for me is my factory cooling on the 525's is really good for up to 900 hp, so i'll never fully use all the boost I have. This is just a reference for the 3.8 whipple question.
Detonation is more of a concern than cooling. A the end of the day it`s all about cylinder pressure. more boost more pressure more detonation potential. The 8.3 are also way too quiet. |

Just because you can go 11psi doesn`t mean you should.

I`m thinking lower the compression to 7.5:1 and keep the boost and blower speed up at 10psi vs. 8.3:1 and 8psi .
Thoughts? |

7.9 is where I would set it with aluminum heads. Then you can run 10-12 psi.

so by this graph: 8.0:1 and 12 psi is 14.5:1 NA motor. 10PSI is 13.4:1 7.5:1 and 10PSI = 12.8:1 NA 8.0:1 and 8psi is 12.4:1 https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...25d0f536e3.png |

Thoughts? Obviously there’s more HP left on the table but also potential failure and think non of us like that especially the limited time many of us have on the water. I know you wanna hit that 100 mark. Heck I would to as you were so close. But…….. 😆 |
