Only time when mine made a racket is when I had the timing at a certain degree while tuning .. it was as if it was almost rocking back and forth a bit and knocking. If I recall correctly the miming was higher that the usual 10-15* I run an idle, that being said they do knock a bit underload .
My buddy has 8.3s .. they were loud , he had em rebuilt and a new tune so not sure which one solved the issue.. his still knock a bit in gear at 1000 rpm but not bad .


I thought the long a$$ belt was going to make em noisy but seems okay, we`ll see under load .

Dan I think mine need some TLC. Timing at 1000 is is 13 deg.. Big dif between yours and mine I am thinking. Thanks for the info.

Good morning, are you running Holley EFI? I just swapped a 572 with the 8.3 whipple to the Holley HP ECU and harness and was looking for a little guidance. I run the HP on my procharged 540 but this is obviously different with 10 injectors and not multiport. Thanks!

Im not 100 percent sure how to set it up for the 10 injectors. Right now it’s wired like the MEFI
Also not sure on a base tune. I put one together that should be fairly good but haven’t run it yet. I’ve seen others but I feel mine would be pig rich at first at idle

Im not sure which harness you have , I modified one that I used with Terminator stealth throttle bodies. I ran the extra 2 injectors in parallel with the others, just spliced into the injector wiring .

I have my old V5 tunes if you want me to send it to you as a starting point .
