What is the distance from top of block to the highest point of supercharger? Looking to see what I need for hood clearance. Thanks.

Tell your friend I had them painted and now I spend every morning wiping them down and fingering all the holes that collect dirt
and thanx for giving me an excuse to post up some pics :bananalove: BTW, I'm still looking for the old pics of SMOKIN'. Just can't get the laptop to fire up. I need to pull a ton of race pics off of it. I'll pull the hard drive and try to boot it externally. |

because the screw blower makes less heat than a roots blower you can safely run more boost and have less temp in the intake manifold.i am propped to turn 6400 rpm.dan, you have access to my dyno sheets.look and see the power output at 6400 rpm.i answered the question you asked,do with that information what ever you want with it.i dont recall saying that power output was at the same boost as the 8 lbs you are running with the 10.71s.just an fyi,on one of my engines i did some dyno pulls with a 16.71 and the whipple made 180 hp more than the 16.71.

Yep ,,on our 598 we had a 8-71 switched to a whipple same pulley Made 10# of boost instead of 6-8 on the 8-71
|
So after switching I find most of these , 'whipple makes less heat and takes less power to turn' to be a wives tale.
Also I`ve never burned up a motor till I switched to Whipple, not sure on fuel distribution but 5 and 6 on both engines are both way lean, not so with a roots. Yes the Whipple made more boost at the same pulley size but thats obviously due to a bigger blower moving more air not that it`s wayyyy more efficient or makes less heat . My IAT`s were unchanged between a 10-71 and 8.3l Knowing what I know now I would have kept the 10-71. |

wow so i,m not the only guy to detonate a bigblock whipple , we think it was a ground issue shutting the 2 injectors on the blower to keep it wet shut off? after running both i will always choose big roots over the whipple i like the looks and sound a gentle woosh compaired to the siren screetch of the whipple i dont care how much power i give up in the end we are running pleasure boats it really does not matter if we go 120 vs 125 maybe common sense is kickin in but dont get caught up in hp numbers build what you want and like and make it live!

Were you running the fuel through the hat or port injection? If its a low boost deal, say under 10psi and smaller cubic inches you can have fuel distribution issues. Someone had ralso eferenced this in an earlier post.
