I was doing an engine years ago and the customer brought a set of rockers. I cant remember what brand they were but I was playing heck with the whole geometry deal. I finally opened a box of Comps I had on the shelf and everything fell right into place. You just never know

Did the mid lift also and after a lot of tests these are the patterns that I measured and order for.... it was a lot longer then just adjusting to get a pattern in the middle and way thinner...

Well, I thought I had it, it least on the intake. Parallel at mid-lift (.343) and dead on .646. Then I thought, let me swap rocker arms and it changed. Looks like one roller tip is a tad thicker than the other. Not sure what that’s about. Looked at the rest and they appeared to be the same as the exhaust rocker arm I was swapped with. I guess I have a rocker arm to deal with at Crower (that was not used last night).

Playing around with it I can get it to work but the exhaust pushrod ends up being about 9-inches long. That’s excessive I think. But this is using a .300 tall body oem-style lifter so maybe it’s what expected with the AFR head.


The roller tip seems to extend past the body more than the one below.

Intake. The dry erase marker fluid isn’t cooperating in the cool garage so it’s smudged some. I also done have the guide plates on so they’re wagging.

Exhaust. Same situation.

Does looking for gross lift even matter with checking pushrods? I’m probably making more out of it than it needs to be.

I think you are going to need to install the guide plates to control the push rod . Too many angles working as the valve opens.

My push rods came out to 9.250- 8.750. That's with a .300 tall lifter. The only change would be I use solid roller lifters. I don't know the high difference . Got tired of trying to deal with bad hyd. lifters.

I'm putting the guide plates back on then going to set the rockers per mid-lift, bring in the pushrods, and then roll it over to see what the sweep looks like and where it lands. So long as it's not too far to the edges, it should be okay. I'm also going to a couple of other cylinders while I'm at it, and order the pushrods.
