The oiler is on-top of the pushrod versus 90-degrees to it. My first thought is easy of manufacturing. I would think having it pointed at the trunnion would better flood the springs. Probably not enough of a benefit to go through the extra step of drilling 90-degrees vs just drilling from the top and inline with the pushrod. If I get a change, I may give them a call back to see if that was indeed the case.
