Default Cam material

Built a mark4 496 with a cast Howard’s hydraulic roller cam. Did some thinking and I’m wondering if it will be ok or do I absolutely have to have a billet cam? I’m not racing or running long ranges wide open. I’m a pleasure boater. I don’t see it being a problem but thought I might ask. Twins in a 36ft formula. Thanks.

Hydraulic roller with moderate spring pressures, you should be fine.

Like Tom said you should be fine. Just don’t ever run solid rollers on it as some do.
