Sounds like you've thrown everything normal at it, and then some. I like that inertia socket from IR, or you need a torque multiplier.

Sydwayz 05-08-2021 08:53 AM

The Dewalt 20V puts out 300 lb.ft of torque. I've seen it snap ARP wheel studs in reverse with a bound up lug nut.

Buy one from Lowe's or HD and return when you are done. :D

I’m going back old school with some 1 1/2” square stock this afternoon. I’ll cut a 4 footer and put all I’ve got into it after heating up again. I’m pretty certain I’ll snap off the end of the breaker bar. 🤣

Drill the head off.
Pull balancer.
Remove bolt stub.

zfrilly 05-08-2021 10:37 AM

You need a heavy wall impact socket and that race track air impact. Get the bolt scary hot with your torch and then hit it with that impact. Scary hot means you think its on verge of melting. You won't melt it with map gas, but try, then hit with the impact with heavy wall socket. The thin wall ones suck. Did a side by side test with cordless impact and lug nuts. Thin wall would not budge them, two different impacts. Grabbed a "impact" socket and they came right off. Never thought it made a difference, it does!

Sent a pm with details on where impact is if you’re interested in trying it

I’m amazed. Taken a lot of Fords apart never seen one stuck that bad. I would have put money on threads being jacked. Was bolt bottomed out?
Congrats
nice ride

I just ordered one myself. Sounds like the ticket!!!

What I ended up doing to get it out was repetitious heat cycles (about 6 red hot) to the bolt head allowing heat to transfer. Cheater bar and about 3/4 throttle with my arm. Once I got past a half turn I was convinced I wasn’t just spinning off the bolt head. 😂.

Persistence, patients and OSO rocks!!!

Thanks everyone - Lots of good advice

I bought one a couple weeks ago. Works great and and I don't have to drag an air line around.:D

zz28zz 05-08-2021 04:19 PM

Humm, don't see a speck of rust on the bolt. Did it fight you all the way or did it come out easy after broken loose?

speicher lane 05-08-2021 06:38 PM

This would have been a great thread in January (no pun intended)... 5 pages to get a bolt out

carnutsx2 05-08-2021 06:48 PM

How does one cross thread a crank bolt, asking for a friend?

RSCHAP1 05-10-2021 09:00 AM

Congrats

Well done, you have more patience than I do.
Is that charred locktite on the bolt?

compedgemarine 05-16-2021 08:36 PM

glad you finally got it. here is one I am finishing up right now. rebuilt the engine, added power disc brakes and rebuilt the front suspension as well as fixed a lot of neglected things.
