I just use a bucket with soap and water. Dunk the eraser, wring it out, and scrub away. If it is removing vinyl I can't tell, it makes it all white, gets the dirt out of the vinyl pattern and doesn't remove the vinyl pattern. I have always been a little curious as to what makes a magic eraser work, they seem to work so good on everything.

if you have a covered slip your going to have it. I spray the beams after power washing and I still get spider poop.

One thing that makes a huge difference is keeping the dock lights off at night. One light attracts lots of bugs which the spiders feed on. If you are at a community dock, condo, or marina this probably isn't possible. There are also nets which are installed above the boat which also help a lot. They aren't cheap but they do actually work.
