Oil filter Question - Since I have not seen one in a while

Recently, (I don't know why), I started doing some reading on oil filters, and have not seen many posts in a long time. Anyway, I have always run mobil 1 15W-50, or Lucas 20W-50 with Wix 51060R filters in my small blocks. Dart blocks - dual remote filters in series - no bypasses anywhere. Engines run close to 6000 RPMS and I have 10% over volume pumps and bigger pans, I know the wix filters down to 61 microns, but flow 28 GPM. I was considering trying out the Royal Purple 30-1218 to filter the oil a bit more.

Royal purple tech indicated that they do not measure flow, or could not provide a number, but measure pressure drop @ 20 GPMs. (4 PSI drop with their filter, versus a stock gm filter at a 10 PSI drop). bur filter to below 20-25 Microns.

At 6000 rpms, the oi pump pumps 21.45 gals per minute & flow is just as important as pressure.

Has anyone run the Royal purple 30-1218 - any issues ?

Just wanted to keep as much oil flowing as possible. Or am I overthiking this, and should just stick with the Wix 51060R ?

Thanks,
Ratchet

Engine masters did a whole episode on this .
Long story Short K&N filter had the best flow and micron rating.

I run Mobil 1 Filters. My second choice would be K&N. Both use a synthetic filter media that won't swell if you get moisture.

There are a quazzillion circle track and road race sbc’s using one (vs two) of the filters the OP is using.

fun facts: the 1060R has a anti drain back valve. The 1061R does not. Otherwise, they are pretty much identical.

The Moroso is a 27 micron and are designed for flow.

Wondering if any of you boat guys use the System 1 filters ?? I try to get racers to use them because you can open them up after each race and check for any bearing material etc. They are expensive but you only buy them once. The filter elements are cleanable and can be easily inspected at each oil change. They have them in all popular sizes and a couple of different micron ratings.

Just curious.

The quazillion folks are running the 51060R (or remove the 5 and you get a napa numper) I assume. I typically change my oil once a year. Have the filters cut open & look for anything strange, metals, etc So far so good with a couple neodymium magnets on the bottom of the oil pans as well.

Surprising no commets on RP filters.

Prolly stay away from ?

System ones look nice, but if I go with 4, I can buy 90-100 Wix or similar filters. Maybe I will look into these on another build
