Livorsi Control Issues
I have a twin engine boat with Livorsi throttle and shifter controls. Boat is ten years old, and has the original cables ( not DTS ). I realize the cables could need replacing, but here's what I'm experiencing. When shifting gears, the rubber boot around the handle at the base has a tendency to bunch up and slide with the position I'm moving the shifter. I figured that maybe the boots were getting old and not pliable, so I ordered four new ones and installed them. I even tried to apply a little bit of synthetic grease on the small edge of the boot that the shifters ride against. I'm still sometimes experiencing the same bunching problem with the boots with the shift stalk. Needless to say, it can be a problem when docking. The odd thing though, is with the boots removed, it shifts so smooth, it feels electronic! That's the part that confuses me. If the cables needed replacing, I would think I would feel some resistance with the base boots removed. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks!

Steve, is there any corrosion on the base of the throttles/shifters that is enabling them to grip & bind up on the rubber boots?
Maybe upgrade to an arched base? https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...eaca91ea11.jpg Attachment 577163 |
Make sure the boots all the way seated so the bottom of the boot is seated to the shifter base. Also Livorsi suggests spraying some Aerospace 303 between the boot and shifter handle. The controls are super easy to remove and take apart for a good cleaning or inspection.

. Hi Brian, corrosion on my boat? Please!😂. I like the look of the newer base plate, looks like the rubber water/dust seals are built in. I wonder if they would adapt to my controls?
