Looks great ! ^^^ Schweet.

Still interested, as i’m sure the op is, to see the defectors made in the intake plenums that try to average out the air to both halfs of the plenums.

Anyone have any pics of this ?

SB 01-07-2022 08:26 PM

Looks like op got banned. Was a good thread.

There was no fighting anywhere i can see.

For real? Some mod still has a bob madera hard on I guess

Say whhaaaaat! Can’t be over the pos snake oil salesman. Geez go back a few years and that would be considered a compliment! Hopefully this gets resolved quickly as the OP has contributed a lot here with over 7,500 post.

BTW - either bob weaseled his way into a web tech here or we really are seeing the 1st amendment go away.

Pretty cool! Very reasonable hp for a 632 @ 7k. Now the big question is who’s lifters? GM?

Twin O/B Sonic 01-08-2022 11:17 AM

And it appears it can be bought for $28k!

Havent read much but I think aimed at drag racers but w/that much torque I’d think a cam and map change and it be a decent bullet for a boat.

Looks great! I've been waiting for this post.

That's what I think I'm going to do with my 8-71 SBF intakes. Instead of welding the injector bungs in I'm going to freeze fit them in.

Twin O/B Sonic 05-17-2022 05:19 AM

Those freagin ports look like you could crawl through them to ck your valves!

Badd ass!

Ya they pretty large , I can see the $6/gallon fuel disappearing pretty quickly

The tunnel cram project is dead.
With the number 6`s drives I had to raise the engines so the trans would line up and that made the whole thing too high for my hatch and I don`t see a safe way to mill anything to gain that back.
This sucks, I spent a lot of time and $$$ modifying these intakes, they`re all powdercoated and ready to go too :(
I can mill the top plate but that only gives me 1/2"
I also sold my almost new intakes so I shot myself in the foot there too.

Are hatch scoops an option? Hate to see you kill such a unique engine combination because of hatch clearance.

RSCHAP1 10-19-2022 05:27 AM

More raise to the hatch ! ! !
Heck, 2" x 6"s upright all around if you gotta.
:)

I’d really prefer you make these work. But someone on yellowbullet did ask for an efi profiler recently.

The tunnel ram/blower combo just SCREAMS "look at me!!!"... cut or replace the hatch

Why dont you just buy the whipple port injection maniford? You probably will gain 4-5 inches.

Second hand experience the fuel distribution on those is terrible, which I don`t understand because it`s port injected..
The runners are super short .

Break out the mill and welder and make the manifold and intercooler one. Plunge the core down into the plenum.

Not seeing it, maybe I was reading old threads sorry.

I think Hogie Roll is on the right track. I don't know how much space you need to make it clear, but you could mill the intercooler adapter plate down a little and then cut the intake top down some and weld the 2 together and prob. gain 2" or may a little more and it would all be stronger for it. Pretty easy to do, not too expensive. The question would be how far can you cut the upper part of the intake down before is impact flow / performance enough to negate the gain of going with the tunnel ram all together, and is that enough to make it clear the hatch? I am arm chairing it from here so its easy to suggest these things, but you have a lot of effort and time and money in it, have you taken the blowers off and put the hatch on and measured what it would take to clear? You may already know that this wont work...

That was my idea but my fabricator that modifier them for Fuel injection isn`t keen on it. He doesn`t think the welds would be strong enough.

I can raise the hatch , thats easy but I`d still need to lose 1.5" somewhere.

This is clearance with the top plate off (3/4" thick)
Really it`s only the left corner that hits as the hatch is bowed a bit .. blower doesn`t hit anywhere else ..
Hatch is 1/2" think I could shave that down too if needed.

whodathought38SS 10-19-2022 08:58 PM

If the fabricator is concerned about the intakes side wall thickness after cutting it down being too thin to hold on a single weld bead, then because the upper adapter plate is much wider than the intake top you could easily fab up some triangle gussets like external webs and add them in many places (every 3 " or something) around the outside under the edge of the plate. and down the intake plenum's vertical sidewall. If you curve or sculpt the outer edge of them a little it would even look kinda cool. This would add to the weld surface area and stiffen the intake side wall. If he is worried that the plate alloy wont weld to the casting, then you could made the flat plate out of a more compatible aluminum to weld to the casting. Or a combination of the two ideas, again just trying to help. We are all rooting for your success on this build. It gives all us home building hobbyist hope to this kind of effort and creativity.

Wildman_grafix 10-20-2022 07:07 AM

Why not just add some small fiber glass scoops or raised section, seems the glass work would be much easier then all the AL fab? Call Glass Dave and tell him he needs a Chi-town ,,,,,, vacation. Or do you not want to change the look of the hatch?

BBYSTWY 10-20-2022 07:20 AM

So nobody is asking and I might get told I'm an idiot but I'll ask anyway...being a giant whipple on not much boost in retrospect....do you even need the intercooler? Any idea what you are actually gaining with it and is there a lower profile option out there like TBS intercoolers? I understand that the whipple IC is far superior to TBS however in your application would you really see that much difference? Just a thought??
