I have a 454 GEN VI as per the Casting number 1023 7297. I had reversion due to the use of stock exhaust. I purchase this boat the way it is. It is a 1997 Baja 272. The iron heads have been redone the way they came off. I change the exhaust system to the Imco manifold and Stainless steel riser which is 8 inches tall from the flange and total length measured from the flange across the top and to the end is 24 inches with the water jacket exit at approximately the last 3 inches from the end. The engine has a weiand 177 Blower. I want to put a Muther thumper camshaft. The rockers are 1.71 stamped roller rockers and I have no idea about the camshaft but I do say it was mildly overstock or if they are a roller lifters. What do I need to change this over at least expense as far as engine change is concerned. There are 32 hours on the engine. Oil changes were normal but no water. Single Holley carb which looks to be a 4250 double pumper. I just want to thank you for your help in advance as I am a newbie at this and I would really like to try that camshaft without a financial bind. I had some gentleman tell me it was going to take $10,000 without a total rebuild which isn’t necessary

G thanks griff , I love you too but last time I was looking for a ridiculous reason but now I’m looking for a little bit higher power. The last time it was because of that ratty chatty sound I wanted but because of you , I have Abandoned the reasoning and started thinking about power and a budget. I am located in Florida, Clearwater to be exact. SB ,Where are you located? Oh and by the way I was wondering if I’d take the slanted cut out of the corsa exhaust tips and put on rubber flappers if that would also help not getting revision. What do you think? It really stunk having a bent valve and rust in my engine. I guess as many of people on this forum there’s always that fear of waterBeing in my engine and not in the Gulf where it should be

A cam and retrofit hydraulic lifters are about $800. $10,000 seems like a flippant answer or import taxes and shipping to your location are a killer.

Roller cam and lifters for $800??? That was the price about 15 years ago.
Cam and lifters will run closer to $1500.
Add Valve springs, locks/retainers, push rods, roller rockers, and a timing chain set which are also needed.

I don't believe a cam change will give you what you want. You can probably throw in the best cam combination you can find at it and it will not net the performance you desire. I believe the 177 blower is the issue. Step up to the next size blower with the same setup you have now.
