Milodon oil pans
 

Hi, I am having issue finding the correct pan for my application. Looking at other posts I see a lot of you use Milodon oil pans. On Milodon's website the marine pans are full length sumps that will not fit on my engines. Can I use a street strip for a marine. What type of oil pans are you running. My engine are a BBC Gen 4 Eight qts.
I found Canton 18-360 none in stock and a bit pricey. If have to go that way I guess I would have no choice.
The other day I ordered Hamberger's Ham 1488. After they were shipped I found out they are not rated for marine, They leak oil at the seams and at the screws holding the windage tray on. I also found out you cannot use your Melling M77 HV pump.. it will not fit you have to use their pump and pickup and to top it off it is not an 8 qt pan as advertised. Someone had an issue with a marine engine and had catastrophic bearing failure. I wrote an email to the manufacturer (Hedman).. I received no answer....Great company!
This is the last part I need for my engines to be completed...

I have used rear sump oil pans before but they had kickouts on both sides and baffles. I recently used this pan on my BBC and was pretty happy with it even though it is a cheaper pan.

You can't use the HV pump with these pans either for some reason. I installed a regular melling pump with it and is working great.

I looked at that pan but it won't fit due to my Gil high performance engine mounts. steel tube runs from one side to the other side engine mounts which takes up 5 inches. so a full length pan won't work. The front of the pan must be tapered down to about 4" or to the stock pan.

I bought the Hardin Marines for my builds. Good quality and more importantly the oil pumps are billet and no chance of the pick ups falling off at the weld. I’ve seen two engines destroyed now in less than a year due to pick up failure. I’m really surprised that Mercury don’t install billets in all their HP engines.

The weld were both just tacked in two places. The weld held fine however the die cast simply broke off behind the weld and they weren’t even a pressed fit. Slid in and out very easily.

If you are still looking for a oil pan check out Dan Oilson oil pans. They work &fit great.

Hardin marine pan
We found the 2 pickups in the old pumps, never welded and tight as can be...They were in there for 19 year was thinking I may have to go with the Hardin-marine pan. My engine mounts are the Gil forward mount and these will fit. Also the fact that they are a marine pan is a plus..Or maybe I may just revert back to a stock oil pan 7 Qt instead of 8qt..I usually run under the full mark on the stick

It's my lucky day...a friend of mine had 2 exact 19221T merc 8 qt pans that came off of his fountain before he stroked them

No.I tried to contact him PM I never heard back. So a local engine and drive shop at a marina I go to. The guy who owns it just stroked his engines and I ask him if he had any merc 19221T extended sump oem pans, He said you can have my old pans exactly what you are looking for...

no problem :angry-smiley-038:...this guy ran his fountain at 95 mph over big waves with those pans and his baffles are still there Hmm!...must have been vibration then.:poopoo:

but I saved $1400 on pans today!
so at this point between clicking clacking posts, oil pans, baffle issues I just about had enough. Time to get these back together and go for a ride.
