Oil Block adaptor Issue

Just put on a Oil Block Adaptor from hardin marine on my gen5 454 and noticed that it was still able to swivel when fully tightened which I though was odd but attached my other oil fitting and went to prime the engine using my drill attachment. Once I started to build pressure I notice a gargling sound and sure enough it was pissing oil from the adaptor. So couple questions.
  1. I am not crazy in thinking this adaptor should not swivel once fully torqued down correct ?
  2. Anything similar out there that is not hardin marine that people have had good luck with?

Check that the hold down bolt is not bottoming out.

by hold down bolt i assume you mean the bolt that passes through the adaptor that should sandwich the adaptor to the block. If thats the case that what i was thinking is going on, bottoms out before engaging the oring to seal it to the block. But if thats the case, defective adaptor ? Or wrong fitting in block?

Some pics to help…

the silver thru bolt on the adaptor is bottoming out on the fitting on the block before the oring seals. Thinking a block fitting with no ‘hex’ would be the thickness i would need.

is the adapter in the block have the same length of threads on both side?also,,are you running bypass valves?if not,you need to block off the pads opening.

Thanks for the call on the bypass I havent given that ton of thought to the bypass but since I am using a hp6 filter and stand alone engine management I think forcing all oil through the oil is a better situation. Parts ordered, will post back once I have them.

Plug it. All oil through the filter.
