Arco 30470-A... it's a lightweight PMGR starter. If you have the big starter, you'll need shorter bolts.

Amazon has for $195.

*edit* this is the 500-700 Merc replacement.

Be sure to use "Starter Bolts." They MUST be knurled, otherwise you will have nothing but gear and flywheel issues.

MSD starters are total junk and their customer service is a joke as well as liars. just saying !

switched to tilton and never had a problem again. 557cid , 9.5 compression, rolls them over easy.

Yes. In vehicles anyway. Never tried in marine, ie: never checked if totally sealed or not.

Make sure whatever you get it's marine rated or you could have trouble if you ever have an insurance claim. Does your ignition support start retard? I have a 10.1:1 524 and it starts like a dream with a stock Mercury starter. But I have start retard enabled so no kick back.

I went thru a bunch of starters , mostly in the $300+ range and found this $91 starter to work the best .

https://www.rareelectrical.com/i-268...s-horizon.html

Starts my blower motors no problem.
I find the high TQ starters turn slower and take longer to fire off.
