Valve Spring removal tool for HP500 Carb?

Need to buy a valve spring tool to change my springs with the heads on the block. I see many options, Comp Cams & LSM have two very different styles. The LSM is a lot more expensive.

I probably will only use it once.

Would appreciate some input and suggestions on which ones to consider.

There are several version of them from different manufacturers and I think they all probably work ok. For a one time only use maybe a local engine builder will let you borrow one ? I loan mine out a few times a year :)

I have the LSM one and it is expensive but it does work good. Doing springs is a pain in the ass with the heads on so a good tool does help with frustration. You could probably sell it after you are done.

Advance Auto (and probably AutoZone and Oreilly) have rental tools and valve spring removers are one of them.

The ones that I have seen that look like it will make the job the easiest (you can work with both hands without holding the big leverage arm on the other style), are these Comp Cam bolt-down ones. It allows to slowly remove and reinstall, heard the many horror stories of the keepers going flying (or worse into the engine)

They are specific for type of engine and head. Are the 500 heads a LS head? I have a sheet that has the full details on it, but not sure if this head is the same as a normal LS head?

The HP 500 cyl heads are normal big block chevy heads.
