Cam arrived today... covered in sticky cosmoline, in correct GM box with GM part number and VP part number... which match the 420hp 8.1 GXi.
I have no way of measuring with the degree wheel yet... engines are at work and garage isnt up yet... but I put a caliper to the lobes and it looks like 1.630" over the nose and 1.330" measured across the base... = .300" lobe lift x 1.7 rocker ratio = .510" lift.

Looks like a genuine score here and I just bought the other two he has, for safe keeping.

Why? I thought you were getting the custom grind from the dude that does the PSI stuff. Due to the heads, will that even be fruitful in that set up?

I have 3 engines to play with and they all dont need a custom grind.
I spoke with Trey earlier today. He has cam blanks available... so ill grab one from him once he has some R&D work outta the way. He likes the LS style heads and thinks they have incredible potential... but is still working on them... so since i am slow rolling at my end... I can wait for a custom grind while hoarding these hard to find HO cams for other projects.
And on another note... I 'kinda like the numbers on the HO cam anyway... and may try it in one of these PSI engines. The PSI rockers are 1.8 ratio... so this .510" lift becomes .540" right off the bat.

Might have been stated earlier on the thread but…. does anyone have flow data for the heads? That would really guide the cam discussion.

Trey at River Speed and Marine is doing a bunch of R&D on these LS style heads.
I don't want to speak for him but I believe he is seeing some pretty impressive numbers with his CNC porting. I think he will have some data available in the coming weeks.

Joshua,

3yo thread. Hopefully you'll get lucky. If not, I may soon have a great shape used HO cam I won't have any use for anymore. Plans are in the works for an upgrade. Get your post count up and get me a PM.

Thanks. Brad.
