Default Who is going to be first to marinize the MEGAZILLA?

Looks pretty sweet; forged crank and pistons. Bet it would make a dandy, reliable I/O:

That sounds like a nice TQ curve, boat ready! So far I have liked the one in my new truck.

I would bet that the Megazilla is also a bit more conservative in regard to valvetrain stress. IMO, no way does it have 200# on the valve seat and 400+ rate valve springs - really the bane of BBC hopped up marine motors. In the 20or so years that I have followed this forum, it has been endless parade of issues with springs, lifters, lobe profiles, etc. Well... maybe drives are a close second haha! A 500-525 HP version of the godzilla might have the longevity of the black motors..

Take it completely apart and increase all the clearances for marine use, piston to wall, rods, bearings.. etc.
Upgrade the valvetrain, bigger oil pan, remote oil filter with stat ... and on and on and on. .. seems easy . Good luck!

You saying you need less than those spring pressures for reliability ?

fords have never been able to really crack into the marine market , they have made several attempts. What i do want to see marinized is the SMX engines steve morris is putting out..... 540 ci 940hp with no boost put the blower on and its 3-4500hp and they drive these on the street to the next race the all billet stuff seems to be holding up well too heres a few of his videos https://www.stevemorrisengines.com/v...1x-dyno-videos

Proline, Goodwin, and a couple others have made small attempts to dip their billet motors into the marine world. None have had much success. But they are much bigger cubes than 540.

Depends on what's required. If we are saying 200# on the seat 400# over the nose on a black motor with stock cam, then yes, the lesser stock spring would be inherently gentler on the valvetrain and thus more reliable. If we are saying a lighter spring than what a lobe requires, then of course, all kinds of bad things can happen. Hope I passed the test even though I am less than an expert haha. My point really is that I suspect that the zilla motors have a few inherent advantages over the tried and true (and developed) 60 yr old BBC design and this includes the valvetrain. Without knowing a thing about the zillas, I am certain that improvements would include a a larger journal camshaft, improved valvetrain geometry and effectively lighter valvetrain. Shockingly, just like the GM LS motors. I also would bet that it makes it's 615 HP with significantly less cam (lift, duration, spring pressure) than its BBC counterpart. It will be really interesting to find out!.
