Anyone know a source for Crane/ Merc 741 cams? Or a grinder who is able to duplicate one. Not just someones version, but has the same lobe profile that ensures valvetrain life? -Need for a 540 build. Not a race deal. Good reliable lake motor.-Thanks in advance.

Try bullet cams or Jones cams.

The 525efi uses same cam lobes as the 741 but are put on a 114lsa, where as the 741 on a 112lsa.
Comp Cams , few years ago, came out with their XM525EFI cam to mimic the OE 525efi one made by Crane for Mercruiser.
Anyway, you could have Comp use those lobes and grind cam on a 112lsa if you wanted.
Just an option to throw at you. Not sure if anyone here on oso has used the XM525EFI cam or lobes yet…

Also, looks like Teague has similar cams they have made by Andrews. Teague used to use the Crane marine cams too, amongst others.

Interested in this, I am building a 509 for my 96 Baja 252, looking for a reliable healthy lake setup nothing race somewhere mid 500hp I am lost on what cam is best for this setup, it is going to ibe injected with a Holley HP system and their Multi-port/TB intake setup. I'm thinking 9.5-10.0:1 compression.

You might check with Tyler Crockett in Michigan. He has a good grind for the 502 MAG. He built me a 509 years ago and has built 100’s of these motors. You can keep your stock rect. port heads and MEFI 1. His cam, minimal work on the heads, dyno’d @ around 520 squared. You don’t need to throw a ton of money at a 502 mag to make the power you are looking for. And it sounds like that is what you are going to do with the Holley setup and aftermarket heads. Just advice and not criticism. Good luck with your project.

............I have a card on a custom grind double swap if interested, I built them years a go and still running strong in a TG today
