I did the same thing just not with momentary switches. I used on/off switches. I never had to use them but it’s nice to know with a flick of a switch u can get out of a sh_tty situation.

When I changed my controls several years ago, I used bullet connectors to wire the neutral safety switches. Easy to disconnect and then bypass the neutral safety switch by connecting them.
