PSI makes 2 types of the 8.8L. One is built like the traditional Gen 7 BBC, the other is the LS version with a different block and heads, intake etc. The injectors go into the head on the LS version.
I believe some of the PSI blocks were built by Dart, not sure if all of them are. The PSI block is a lot more stout than the GM version of the gen 7. I know guys are buying PSI core engines off Ebay for under $2k and starting to figure these things out. Arizona Speed was involved in modifying the PSI intake on the LS version to get the runner length correct for marine applications. Even with the PSI camshaft that was super low lift and designed for industrial low HP, it turned over 500HP on the dyno. So these things will turn some good numbers once the formula is figured out. But as said earlier the gen 7 is the redheaded stepchild so even if the PSI platform works out it will struggle to gain unanimous traction from the purists. |
