So I've been talking with a guy who is telling me to change from msd to daytona sensors he will write the tune for me to help with my idle issues when shifting into gear. What's the consensus on here about the unit. The boat runs great its just running pig rich so i don't stall it it at the docks. The boat was originally tuned and set up by john teague i quickly learned i canty operate about like he can. He can shift with the surge of the blowers and has no problem at all. Me not so good. So i took it to anthony at HP Mafia he got it to where i could at least drive it. But I want it better. So any suggestions or info would be great. Thanks for your time
Boat 38 fever Motors are blown 540s dual holley 750 double pumpers making 875hp at 7lbs of boost on 91 octane with chillers current ignition msd locked out at 32 idles around 1k and drops to 700 or so when i shift. I have a feeling they are set pretty good for these cooler temps but when it get warm tends to real rich smokes and slicks the water.

I have the Daytona system on my boat and it's amazing. I use the idle control with a steep timing advance below 1000 rpm. I have the physical timing set to 36 degrees and then use the Daytona box to set my actual timing. This allows me to advance the timing to 36 degrees when the engine drops to 500rpm. my idle timing is at 24 degrees which allows me to open up the throttle blades a touch at idle. Between the reverse timing curve below idle and the idle control it runs like EFI. I boat in very cold water and it starts much faster and idles great without a choke even when it's cold (40 degrees). You will be able to bring the idle down in neutral and you won't see as big a drop in gear. I can idle at 700 rpm in gear all day long when cruising down the river. I also have a timing retard switch connected so I can retard timing 4 degrees if I have to get marina gas.

DS upgrade stands out as the single best purchase I've ever made on a boat.
My engines idle, don't stall, etc.....
ThisIsLiving helped me get up and running and I'm so much happier.
I have 800 HP 565's, normally aspirated, talldeck single carb Dominators which don't make dick for vacuum. This fixed it. I run locked timing in my distributor and just let the box/tune that I loaded handle everything.

need 10 Xanax by the time I get into the slip.[/QUOTE]
Thats pretty damm funny 😆. I barely had time to do a shake down last fall on my boat so I didn’t have time to correctly tune my Daytona sensors and just used some ready to go distributors with 24 deg adv. Engines ran great and super strong but cams are pretty wicked SR’s and can’t idle below 1,300 + without stalling when shifting. Local launch has dock about half the length of my boat and throw in a windy day can quickly make a **** show. Entertaining for some I’m sure but at least they all run to help.
So in a marina trying to dock with stelling headers dry to the tip would likely ruin sale boaters day/night. 🙄
So yeah I get the zannies and v’s 😂

John had the boat set up with blower surge and would use the bottom of the surge to shift so the motors wouldn't stall I just am not that good of driver. **** watching other boats the docks trying not to stall the motors everybody staring at me. I need 10 Xanax by the time I get into the slip. Most of the blower surge was taken out by Anthony at HP Mafia at the Ozarks He adjusted it on the water with idle mix screws it ran pretty good the whole time I was at the lake that week. But is very smokey and slicks the water from unburnt fuel come out the exhaust. And I just want it more dock friendly I have even considered turning props out. But have been told not to do it so I haven't.
Dude - I know the feeling!!!!! Lunch stop we go to most often is tight parking and it's RIGHT IN FRONT of a 2 story outdoors deck. There are no other go-fasts in this area and I have dry pipes. It's the worst case scenario. We NEVER leave without at least a dozen people filming - there is no room for error - I'd just look like the biggest ASSClown in the country dealing with uncooperative motors trying to back into those slips.
The Daytona Sensors stuff is very easy to use. Takes a few hours to wire it up, but well worth it.....
