Pressurizing stat oil cooler
Easiest way to pressurize a stat oil cooler (and) with or w/o stat in place.
One is still plumbed in boat and other is on shop floor but plumbed on engine. Had some oil in both blocks last fall shake down run. Both coolers new but process of elimination. tks |
Ayuh,..... Pressurize it from both directions, 'n look for bubbles on the water side,.....

i would get some air line fittings and hook them up on the oil side of cooler and pressurize it up to what your highest oil psi readings you get....then dunk the coolers into some hot water...like near boiling, to try and simulate the oil temps as much as possible and let it sit there and watch for bubbles...if there's a hairline crack it wont show up until there's some heat in there to expand it all...
Not sure about on the motor....i would just take them off to be sure. |

Menards stocks these. Plug one end of cooler with a pipe plug. Insert the tester into other end. Charge with 30psi.let it sit overnight.
