Volvo penta leaking water from motor

There’s a fitting in left side of motor by spark plugs that leaks water when running does it need to be plugged or no ? First Volvo penta please and thank you

What engine???
If its below the spark plugs then its probably the engine block drain.

Is this a new to you boat?? Have you used it yet??

A "Volvo Penta" is the outdrive. The motor is something else

Volvo Penta has been making marine engines for 50+ years. Most recent and current offerings are GM based and very similar to Mercruiser.

If it's a Chevy motor, it's a Chevy motor. In the past the only difference was maybe a cam profile and most of them were just truck cams. 😊😊

The first answer is yes it needs to be plugged no boat should have water dripping inside. Check for freezer plug or manifold drain could be split hose get a mirror and flashlight and see wre it tis coming from
