warped intake valves
502 mpi engine with only 45 hours since heads were redone but now everyone of the intake valves are warped. Any ideals what causes it? Machinist said they are the heavy duty valves.

Let’s see one. Can you post any pics?
|
What do you mean warped? Bent?

sorry i never seen the valves just going off the machinist.

Was cam installed straight up? Was block zero decked, or just cleaned up?How much did they mill heads?
If cam timing was advanced, you may have run out of piston to valve clearance. |

Warped or tuliped?
Intake valves usually won't tulip. |
I have seen that in a lot of small block heads but cant say I have ever seen it in Big Blocks. They are tuliped which I suppose some people call warped. I know if you are getting water in the cylinder they will definitely do it. When I do a set of small block heads i almost always put stainless intakes in them.
I think you need to have your machinist verify if they are "warped" or "tuliped" big difference in the causes. And a picture would be nice :) |
Just another thought ...... how long ago were they done ?

I couldn't get a good picture and laying the valve on the table it didn't rock. I have 4 short seasons and about 45 hours on it. He did put stainless intake valves in it this time i just didn't want it to happen again. |

BillK you obviously dont know what you`re talking about .
I filled up with bad gas (basically laquer) and 5 minutes later my intake valve didnt intake so much anymore but when i posted the pic I was told bad gas doesnt do that , Im wrong and its something else .. just a coincidence.lol https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...9e11b4c778.jpg |
