Default 454 Mag 375hp 88-92.

I have 454 mag gen5 from 88-92.
Boat: Chris Craft 245 Limited with Bravo1, 1.5:1 ratio.
I want to change flat tapper cam to roller cam.
Which is good roller cam setup and what else i have to change make it work? Retro fit lifters, cam button, what else?
Good performance, but nice cruising mpg.
Heads: 14096188
Block: 19068286
Mercury serial number: D384614

Thanks.

There are good flat-tappet cams you can run.
Retro lifters are pricey.
But if you're in for the $$, a hydraulic roller is great.

If you are running a 454/365 then you have a .510 lift 224/224 @050 duration flat tappet cam.

A comparable hydraulic roller with same 050 duration will have: MORE AREA under the curve (more power), LESS total duration and overlap (more torque), and higher lift numbers (flow). So it would be your call depending on the intended usage of the boat in order to choose a cam.

Just know that a cam with more overlap than what you're running will be more likely to suck water into your exhaust ports at idle. If you run thru-hull exhaust it buys you some grace. If you exhaust thru the lower unit, then you have to be careful.

In order to upgrade cams with anything significant that will make more power, you will need aftermarket exhaust with longer risers.

You will also need new valve springs, rocker studs and new rocker arms, new pushrods, new timing chain set.

You'll have 10k into the pair of engines in no time
