Prop Questions
I have a 302 Baja that I just repowered with stock 502 Mag MPI's. I have installed Stainless Marine exhaust straight through transom with Shotgun silencers. I also have installed Vortex flame arrestors. Bravo drives (1.5/1) turning Bravo I 26P, four blade stainless props, turning out. The boat is showing 68 MPH of GPS @ 4600 RPM's. The engines should turn up to 5000 RPM's.
I can have the props labed and pick up about 300 RPM's. Is this the best way to go??? What will I loose??? Any thoughts out there guys? |
The only thing you'll lose is durability in the props. I don't know if you should expect to get 300rpm if you are sending the props to Mercury. You'll get it if you send them to Houston Propeller.
Your other options are 24P Bravo 1's, 23P Mirage Plus's or 23P Rev 4's (not sure if they come in LH rotation). If money is no object, I'd get the 24P Bravo's, do a baseline run, and then get the 24's blueprinted with some add'l cupping and/or pitch. |
Labbed 25'' or 27'' mirage plus will be the fastest prop, the 4 blade is slower, however my buddy did get 300 rpm from mercury's lab process

that's the ticket on bravo's
