I'd be all in at 3000 or just after and total at 35 degrees. Run the tightest curve you can as long as initial isnt to high to generate hard starts. If thats the case add curve and pull base to be all in at similar point but total is more critical unless you idle or troll the bulk of your trip.
So I don't want to get another ignition box, I rather just let the distributer control the timing for now until i switch over to EFI. I have another distributer, ignition box, coil and fuel pressure regulator I have to swap over too as well.
I guess play it safe if you see figure D, I switch to the 2 light blue springs and the green bushing stop I can set base at 12 and a total of 35 just after 3K. Right now it has the factory 2 heavy springs and blue bushing stop.

This was taken on the first test run with the new engine so dont kill me on the not neat wire. its neatened up since then LOL

1 have 575hp .red bushing 2 heavy springs . idle 14deg 3000 34deg 850 holley . 5200rpm wot. so I run a af box . at 3000rpm 13.5 af at wot 12.6 af . 34deg is safe 4 year running good . you have to prop boat so the rpm are at the max rpm.wot.proping the boat at wot put the motor in the power band, give you full hp. if you look at stock 502 on air cleaner it will have wot 4800rpm to 5200rpm and that's what they prop the boat at. I try all the bushing and springs for me this set up work the best for me' I have a 24 Baja 582 800hp red bushing 2 heavy spring.34deg at 3000. boat prop at 6000rpm 90mph . if your motor was dyno you will see the rpm number at the most hp the motor makes.my boat prop to go 6000rpm .

I would assume optimizing the timing curve and AFR could net me another 50-60Hp im sure it was down on power last season.

the 26p prop is no good you aren't in power band!the 24 p will be better. you need to run the boat 5200no lower than 5000rpm then run the boat at 3000rpm see your af is jet the front jet around 13.5 after that run the boat wide open. then change the jets 12.5 on .no lower then 12.5 it will be to rich
