Thanks.
I decided the carburetors would do what I needed them to do. |
If you don’t wan to tune carb or efi for days and months, don’t get a wideband. :evilb::party-smiley-004::lolhit: :lolhit:

Without the data, it would have been much harder to get figured out. In my case the engines ran pretty well. I could see where guys may have assumed the carbs were good go by only trying to fix WOT running. They’d never know that the cruise/midrange was having an issue. Next thing you know it’s either washing down cylinders and wiping bearings or taking out valves and pistons. It’s been an invaluable tool. |

I’ve definitely learned a lot.

have they thou?
The only way I would go with EFI would be via a multiport setup. I watched Rookie’s installation and was beyond impressed with how his turned out. But for me, the cost was way too much to consider. And after seeing many issues across different forums… going with a Sniper-type of EFI setup was just not a consideration. I like being able to get home. So have they worked for me? Yes. They start well, idle well, and run well. I just need a little more fuel at cruise to be set and I am very close to wrapping up the calibration. |

Did you look at any plugs to correspond to the AFR reading you were getting?
Plugs showed and increase in richness from front to rear. 1 and 2 showed very slight tan porcelain with an ash-like appearance on the ground straps. 3 and 4 were showing more uniform darker porcelain and clean grounds - what you’d see on a fuel injected car perhaps. 5 and 6 were richer with ground straps the same as 3 and 4. 7 and 8 were definitely the richest with soot on the fire rings of 8 on both engines. I have not pulled them since running with the 80443 jetting. I ended up getting sick from a contaminated oyster for the return part of my trip and had to have a buddy run the boat back for me (I had planned to test and tune on the way back). Have been ill for over a week and haven’t touched it since but I do have this Wednesday off so I’ll be back out again to test and check. Quick WOT showed a dive into the high 11s. I might go up on the primaries and down a couple on the secondaries to balance it out but I want to have a sustained WOT run before messing with the secondaries. Getting close. |
