502 spring pressure

How much open pressure can GM h y d roller lifters handle,500lbs open? Under 6000 rpm

F-2 Speedy 09-28-2024 07:07 PM

I think thats a bit much for a stock lifter, Id stay in the 400-425 range......the Isky 8005A is a good spring for a 500 525 efi rebuild, whats the cam specs ?

Cam

525 cam co u ld I run solid lifters on that cam?

F-2 Speedy 09-28-2024 07:32 PM

I wouldn't, lobe profile is for hydo roller, why do you want to run 500 lbs springs with that cam ?

Just afraid of valve float

The rev limiter is set at 5350 on the 525 EFI 555 controller, if you want to spin it to 6k I might choose another cam

Could run a short travel hydraulic roller lifter

I’m running crower solid roller lifters on a crane 741 hydraulic roller cam which is similar to the 525 hydraulic roller cam with comp roller rockers. Lash is set @ 6.

As long as it's a billet core you can run solids. 0.004"-0.006" lash to make up for the hydraulic "pre-load" before it goes solid.
I've run solids on hydraulics forever and when talking with Comp they had no problems and said it would be a great combination when I ordered my new HR cams.

Is a stock 525 cam billet core ? ....:drink:
