Default Cooling

Advice needed I have twin 454 twin turbo Gentry engines which are new to me , I noticed that one engine has had the rear of the inlet manifold drilled both sides and small pipes run to the back of the stat housing I am sure I read many years ago this was done to promote even cooling and less air pockets , is this correct . Plus strange it's only done on one motor ? Appreciate any advice .

Yes that's what it for because there is no cross over in the rear of the intake, I run -4an dumps off the back of my Whipple engines over board......up to you to match it, I would
