Guys,
I sent the pump to Weldon to be rebuilt. I got a call from Jim at Weldon this morning. Worse than we thought…. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ba42c7d32.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...07c4f9c8e.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...d28b2d764.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0299b0e4d.jpeg Obvious signs of salt water exposure and being run dry (starved). He found a really good shape used pump body, and the internals will all be new, plus new motor bearings and he replaced the motor cap with a good used one with considerably longer lead wires. The pump should be like new when I get it back. And all cheaper than a new one, by a good bit. It should be a fair bit quieter, too. Thanks. Brad. |
Good deal,.You`re lucky it didn`t fail on you and take out that new engine1

Maybe a dumb question but mine is mounted low and horizontal by Eddie Young. Could your mounting position and location cause it to work harder and create more noise? Padraig |

Is the noise reducing because it is loaded up and under pressure or because it has a shut off built into it?

I knew it! One of mine was rusty inside. I'm sure he already told you as he did me, to make sure you seal it up in a couple spots when you get it back.
He did not. At least, if he did, I don’t remember it. I’m guessing I’ll get an email or there will be a note. We’ll see. I will most likely install it as soon as I get it. Not sure if that qualifies. Thanks. Brad. |
Guys,
Got the pump back today. Looks clean, but just like it’s when I sent it out. No surprises. Now to mount and connect it. I’m thinking I’d like to use a connector for the electrical, instead of hardwiring it. Is this the route to go, or should I just hard wire it? If so, is this a viable option? Thanks. Brad. |
that connector should work fine

Guys,
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...2abac213a.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...9a8965c3e.jpeg All back together. Freshly rebuilt fuel pump, double rubber grommet mounting. At the very least, I can say the pump won’t be transmitting any noise it might be making to the hull. It’s as quiet as it’s gonna get. I hope it will satisfy the CFO. Thanks. Brad. |
