Swim Platform Measurements
Looking for input on the width measurement of an aluminum platform like the one pictured below. I'm going to fab a swim platform for my 31' Bullet, so I could make it as wide or narrow as I want. Having never owned a boat with this type of platform, I'm having trouble envisioning what I want. I want plenty of room to sit or walk on, but not a diving board hanging off the back. How far back does your platform extend from the transom?
Thanks https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...d5495860a4.jpg |
Mine is 23" total off the transom including the grab bar. 18" platform, mounted 2.5" off the transom and grab bar is another 2.5"

Thanks Griff.
It looks like you have 1 7/8" oval tubes. What is the distance between the tubes, are they comfortable, easy to clean? I'm tossing between flat oval tubes and a aluminum sheet with crescents cut into it like the example pic I posted. |
the last one we had made we took a big piece of cardboard and cut it to the size we thought we wanted and held it up to the boat to look at and see if we liked it. wound up making it a shorter length as it looked cartoonish at the size we thought would work. visual really helped us decide on the size.

Even the angle of the swim platform is important to get right. Off even a bit and it starts getting out of the golden ratio. 1.618 : 1
