You got bad gas or water in your gas from an external source, that`s not phase seperation. That takes a long time.I did some testing on that . https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ad5bce1b4f.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...0540f0fd53.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...66a9c3fe3f.jpg |
I always have the vent line with a loop in it above the vent through hull makes it harder for water to get into tank, if you are replacing the vent hose get it a couple feet longer and use a zap strap to put a loop in it, couldn’t hurt

Maybe you already had water in your tank...and the ethanol gas just mixed with it...and serarated?
One of the benefits of 10%ethanol gas...is it keeps water out of the system. |
I’d pump all fuel out if you don’t know what’s in there or question it in any way. GET a 55 gallon barrel on line and then give it away. Lots of people on FB will take it for some god forsaken reason!!
if you’re worried about the hoses, AN line is cheap and easy, but if the fuel looks like THAT it’s not from bad lines it’s bad fuel. Throw a couple new filters on the boat and change them often. I’d drain carb bowls as well, which is also quick and easy to do. |
I don’t know if you have the space but I use the racor filters that have a drain on the bottom, I do use the ones with the clear bottom so you can see if there is water in the filter( technically not allowed in engine compartments they use a metal one with a drain)
