Default Odd ball question

On my 1988 omc cobra 350 engines
on both, in same spot on exhaust hose there is a band clamp, its almost dead center between engine and the transom
I have no idea why
Both ends of hose are double clamped
I doubt omc said put an extra on four hose clamps on...just in case
is it possible the swirl exhaust things are held in the hose by pressure from these clamps??
